Meet the Benbrook Team Behind Mainspring Garage Door Co.
We’ve been fixing and installing garage doors in Benbrook since 1984. The crew you’ll meet here is the same group that answers your call, loads the truck, and shows up at your door. What ties us together isn’t a handbook. It’s the K.E.Y.S. code we train under, and the fact that every one of us lives within about twenty minutes of the shop. We know which neighborhoods have the older Raynor doors from the 90s, and which new builds out toward the lake are running into their first spring failures. We’re local. We’re the people you get.
Our People
Carl Dutton, Owner
I started this company in 1984, back when Benbrook was a lot smaller and most garage doors were manual. Named the business Mainspring because that single coil does the heavy lifting, and if it fails, nothing else matters. I still answer the phone some nights, still drive out when a job goes sideways, and I sign off on every 90-Day Done Right Promise we put in writing. Outside of work, I restore old Craftsman tools and I’ve got a running bet with my wife that I’ll finally organize my shop this year. I won’t.
Mike R., Lead Technician
Mike’s been with us fourteen years, and he’s the one we send when a door has stumped everyone else. Factory-certified on LiftMaster, Genie, and Chamberlain openers, but his real specialty is diagnosing oddball track issues in older Benbrook homes, especially the hillside builds off Winscott Road where the framing settles and throws everything off square. He keeps a notebook of every weird fix he’s seen. Off the clock, Mike rebuilds vintage motorcycles and he’s got a dog named Spring, which he swears was a coincidence.
Darlene H., Senior Installer
Darlene joined us in 2016 after ten years in commercial door systems, and she runs our new installation crew. She’s particularly sharp on Clopay and Amarr door alignments, and she’s trained three of our apprentices past the journeyman mark. Darlene lives in Benbrook proper, near Dutch Branch Park, and she’s the reason we know which way the afternoon wind hits certain streets and why it matters for door balance. She bakes sourdough on weekends and brings the extras to the shop Monday mornings. We don’t complain.
Jesse T., Service Coordinator
Jesse answers the phone when you call, and he’s the one making sure Mike or Darlene has the right parts on the truck before they head out. He’s been with us six years, knows every standing offer by heart, and he’s the person who checks that your address is in our Benbrook zone versus Fort Worth or White Settlement so we give you the right ETA. Jesse grew up in Crowley, coaches youth baseball, and he’s got a running tally of how many times a customer has said “I didn’t expect a real person.” He’s at forty-seven this month.
Tomas K., Apprentice Technician
Tomas started with us in 2023, fresh from a vocational program in Tarrant County, and he’s working his way through journeyman training under Mike’s watch. Already solid on cable replacements and safety sensor alignments, and he’s the one who handles most of our $89 Seasonal Tune-Ups because he’s thorough and doesn’t rush. Tomas lives with his grandparents near Benbrook Lake and drives a truck older than he is. He’s learning which Wayne Dalton models need the special winding cones, and he’s getting there.
One Standard, Every Job
Every person on this page works under the same agreement we put in writing in 1984. The 90-Day Done Right Promise covers every job, no exceptions. Background checks and uniforms on every visit. Upfront pricing stated before any work starts. Trucks stocked so we’re not making you wait on parts. And a live person on the phone, always, including the middle of the night when your spring lets go and you’re staring at a door that won’t budge. We’ve been in Benbrook long enough to know that reputation is built one call at a time. That’s how we operate. That’s how we’ve always operated.
